The co-founder of the National Golf Institute in Jakarta, Indonesia, and former national coach for two countries brings over 40 years of experience, humour, and no-nonsense teaching to golfers of all levels. With a unique blend of sports science, traditional methods, and a touch of Eastern philosophy, Lawrie’s approach aims to develop complete competitors, not just better swings. His latest book, Strategic Golf Practice, offers a roadmap to turn practice into real course performance. Andrew Brown
Andrew Brown was born in Edinburgh and learned his golf on the links of Gullane and North Berwick. He moved south to study at Cambridge University and pursue a career in the food industry. On retiring in 2018, he embarked on a project to study and write about Scotland’s ‘two gifts to the world; whisky and golf’. Of Peats and Putts was published in 2018 and has sold in over a dozen countries. Three further volumes on the same theme have followed. He is currently writing a book on whisky and golf in Tasmania and New Zealand, while also planning a third one on Scotland which will explore whisky and golf on and off Scotland’s beautiful west coast. Now living in Cornwall, he has recently taken up hickory golf, which is likely to feature increasingly in his writing.

Kris Lynch
Kris graduated from his hometown University of Aberdeen with a Master of Arts degree in European Studies. He is the founder of Golf Yourself Healthy, a community for those who share the belief that Golf is good for you. Kris founded GYH in February 2024, to commemorate the life and passing of his son, Innes. The game has been Kris’ salvation whilst coming to terms with his grief and he wanted to establish a community who not only feel a similar way about Golf, but who can support each other on the journey. He hosts the GYH Podcast and writes regular journal articles, sharing both his own and his guests’ experiences of how Golf is helping them to happier and more fulfilled lives.

Edward Broughton
Edward Broughton is a writer, film maker and photographer who lives and works in St Andrews, Scotland. All of these things happened to him by accident rather than by design. Edward was born in London, and has crept further and further north with every move. He is a product of the last years of free higher education in England. This was a time when interests could be followed from art school to art school with no financial burden or thought of such awful things as ‘pursuing a career’. This way of thinking has led Edward to live in the middle of nowhere with not a care in the world to what may be going on at any given moment in any given fashion. He has never played golf but might try it someday.
For this issue he portrayed members of the Carnoustie Ladies Golf Club.
Nicole Diener
Artist Nicole works and lives in rural south-western Germany. For over 25 years, she has produced mainly abstract, often very large, mixed media artworks that have been on display in solo and group exhibitions in Germany and Austria. Nicole is an avid golfer. Her objects for our piece “Illusive Golfscapes” are her first collaboration with Depeche Golf.
Markus Benk
Markus is an internationally published photographer living in Stuttgart. During his long career, he specialized in various fields. He has worked as a news- and film set-photographer and currently focuses on fashion. He’s been a passionate golfer for over ten years.
For this issue, he captured the subtle beauty of Nicole Diener’s objects as “Illusive Golfscapes”.
Henri Karttunen
Henri is a two-time brand agency founder and a visionary golf rebel with an M.Sc. in Marketing. Whether he’s disrupting golf media, golf courses, or how people play the game, he’s always thinking about how the sport can evolve. The 33-year-old journeyman has lived in Finland, Sweden, France, and Australia. His favorite golf course is Shiskine on Arran. His other passions include sports, mental health, running, and rock drumming – just to name a few.

Sara Buzurović
Artist Sara Buzurović holds both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in graphic design from the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade. Her work has been published in international magazines such as 46pgs, Plastikcomb, Contemporary Collage and has been awarded by The Society of Publication Designers (SPD).

Matt Chominski
Matt Chominski lives in the lovely West Chester, Pennsylvania with his wife and children. Most of his golf consists of chipping in the backyard while kids bound about a trampoline or hurl themselves through space on the swings. His degrees are in Philosophy, Political Science, and Philosophical Theology. He teaches Theology and Philosophy at Archmere Academy and writes a very occasional Substack titled “Fairway Philosophy.”

Christoph Günther
Born 1975, Christoph learnt to play golf with 9. The former playing-pro and fully qualified PGA Professional has played the game in 54 countries, and has competed and won on several international tours. Peter Jones
Peter Jones, born 1943, is a retired golf professional from Hawarden, Wales. As a player, he looks back on two Open Championship appearances at Hoylake (Royal Liverpool) and Carnoustie. After working for Henry Cotton between 1963 and 1970, Peter embarked on a teaching career of his own that saw him living in various countries throughout Europe. In 2010, he retired to Lagos in his wife’s native Portugal. He has since worked as a prolific autodidact painter with a weak spot for the more obscure golf motifs.
This is his second collaboration with Depeche Golf and we will be featuring his work in upcoming issues.
Florian Opitz
Florian Opitz graduated from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences with a Master’s degree in Landscape Architecture for Global Sustainability. In his thesis, he used soil chromatography as an artistic research method to explore the role of microbial ecology for human health in cities. As a passionate golfer, his focus on urban ecology has also led him to investigate ways of improving the nature conservation value of golf courses and to advise golf clubs and companies as an ecological consultant. Florian works as a landscape designer for Latz + Partner and lives in Freising/ Munich.

Karoline Gees
Karoline Gees is an alumna of the University of St Andrews, but cycling past the Old Course daily is as close as she has ever come to golf. After completing a degree in history, she worked as a producer for German television in Cologne, where she met Mark. 10 years ago, she returned to her hometown near Stuttgart, working as a copywriter and pursuing her many interests such as music, photography, and poetry. Karoline has accompanied Mark’s writing and other creative endeavors for many years now. We are delighted to have her on board. Her contributions as a proofreader and adviser in all things style, grammar, and syntax are priceless.
